Putting “Biblical Perspectives On Narcissism” Into Perspective…

.

This blog started as part of a personal journey when God responded to my cry to Him for help during a particularly difficult period with a narcissist.  While we spend most of the time here exploring the depths of the Bible for solutions, I occasionally remind myself of three underlying purposes for this blog:

.

One:  To demonstrate that the Bible has Divine wisdom applicable to every area of life.

.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

.

Two:   To make this blog a catalyst and assistant for your own personal study, not “answers on a platter”.    This blog is my continuing seeking of God, His wisdom, and His grace on the subject – publicly written for the possible benefit of others.  As continuing “real time” research, things I learn in blog entry number 200 may impact how I viewed or stated things in blog entry number 20.  I then (hopefully) use #200 to fix what I said in #20.   This blog is not intended to be The Definitive Answer but rather a starting (or continuation) point and framework for your own search of the scriptures and seeking of God.  Please be like the people of Berea and exam Scripture for yourself:

.

Acts 17:11

Now these [the people of Berea, see verse 10] were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

.

Three:  While exploring the depths of Scripture, to never forget the heights, centered around God and Who He Is – the Creator and center of the universe and the Provider of all our solutions and needs in the form of Jesus Christ.  He is the true Source of life, wisdom, knowledge, and the daily grace that we need.

.

2 Peter 1:2-3

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

.

Colossians 2:2-3

that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

.

And finally, to help everyone find the right starting point for their journey.

.

1 John 5:5-15

Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?  This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son. 10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. 11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

.

Dealing with narcissists can be maddening, infuriating, and seemingly impossible at times.  I never want to minimize the pain and challenge.  To emphasize again – this blog is not intended to be formulaic self-help, but a resource pointing to The Book as you receive comfort and grace from Him in dealing with your difficult situation with a narcissist.  Yes, there are things we can and should do, based on the Bible, for dealing with them.  But God wants us to realize that HE is ultimately the source of, and behind, all real solutions.

.

Proverbs 21:31

The horse is prepared for the day of battle,
But victory belongs to the Lord.
